Posted on Dec 8, 2011 12:00pmAs most of you now know, Prosserman JCC Program Director, Gustavo Rymberg, is participating in a unique trip where he and other senior executives are travelling to Poland and Israel. The goal is to discover and experience Jewish history and to hopefully offer this trip to members in the future.
Gustavo was kind enough to send over his thoughts for this post where he visiting the Warsaw Ghetto and the Ghetto Uprising Monument. Here are some more of his thoughts.
From Gustavo Rymberg on December 2nd, 2012:
"After Warsaw we drove to Lublin and after that Majdanek concentration camp. It is very hard to put all of my feelings into words. How can I describe the smell? What can I say about people living across the street with their bathrooms facing majdanek memorial? Our amazing educator and tour guide told us, "if we can see the city from here, they can see this (majdanek) from the city...So what did they do?"
I find walking through Poland to be very strange. I can't help but think that there was death everywhere, and that Poland is just a big cementary.
Now we are driving to Auschwitz."
